South Africa - Maintenance and Water Conservation Efforts at Sri Sathya Sai School Lenasia | Pretoria Region

On the 29th of June 2024, a dedicated team of fifteen sevadals from Pretoria undertook significant maintenance and water conservation projects at the Sri Sathya Sai School Lenasia. Their efforts aimed to improve the school’s infrastructure and promote sustainable water usage, reflecting the principles of service and environmental stewardship.

The first project involved replacing the connector hoses to 16 toilets. This upgrade was essential in increasing water pressure and ensuring that the cisterns filled more quickly. By enhancing the efficiency of the toilets, the sevadals helped to improve the overall functionality of the school’s sanitation facilities, providing a better environment for the students and staff.

Additionally, the sevadals addressed an important water conservation issue with the school’s urinal system. The existing mechanism flushed water at continuous intervals, even when the school was closed, leading to significant water wastage. To combat this, the sevadals replaced the fittings, allowing the urinal to be flushed manually. This change is expected to save thousands of liters of water, aligning with the principles of sustainability and resource conservation.

Further work was carried out on the school’s borehole. The sevadals completed the necessary electrical fittings, paving the way for the next phase of the project. The installation of Jojo tanks is underway, which will facilitate the pumping of water for ablution purposes. This initiative is crucial in ensuring a reliable and sustainable water supply for the school.

These projects undertaken by the Pretoria sevadals demonstrate their commitment to improving the infrastructure and environmental sustainability of the Sri Sathya Sai School Lenasia. Their hard work and dedication have not only enhanced the school’s facilities but also significantly contributed to water conservation efforts.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the sevadals from Pretoria for their selfless service and meticulous work. Your contributions have made a substantial impact, reflecting the values of Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s teachings on service, sustainability, and community support.
