Nepal- Eye Surgery Program

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba says that the best way to love God is to "Love All, Serve All.” He teaches us that “Service to Man is Service to God." Following this underlining principle, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organization Nepal (SSSSON) gives top priority to service activities. Accordingly, so far, nine SSS Community Drinking Water Projects have been constructed, benefiting over 2000 households, and utilizing over 100 km of pipelines. In all these project sites, SSSSON conducts software seva activities simultaneously with the construction.

In one of the recently completed water projects, Sri Sathya State Committee 3A organized a Free Eye Checkup Camp and Narayan Seva at Khanigaon Village in Nuwakot district on May 4, 2024. The camp was conducted by qualified doctors with all the necessary equipment and medicine.

Eye examination was conducted on 342 patients. 41 elderly patients were identified for cataract surgery and for other complicated surgeries. Among these patients, 31 were brought to Kathmandu for surgery. Doctors at the Kirtipur Eye Hospital in Kathmandu successfully carried out cataract surgery on 19 patients. Surgery for the remaining 12 patients was deferred, and oral treatment was prescribed as they had other medical complications, such as high BP and sugar levels, etc., to withstand the surgery.

All requirements, such as medical, traveling, food, accommodation, doctors for the post-operation checkup, and medicines for all the patients, were arranged by SSSSON. With the blessing of Bhagawan Baba, everything went smoothly, and 19 elderly patients, after a week’s stay, have since returned to their village.
